Annual dues, based on the size of your business. Your application goes to BBB for review, and dues are refunded in full if we can’t accredit you.
Why Accreditation isn't free
BBB is a nonprofit. We take no government funding. Everything BBB does for consumers is free to them: complaint mediation, scam tracking and alerts, business profiles, dispute resolution, and consumer education.
If Accreditation were free, anyone could claim it, and it would mean nothing to the customer standing in their driveway deciding whether to trust you. The seal carries weight because someone verifies the standards, investigates the complaints, and pulls the accreditation of businesses that stop meeting them.
Dues are scaled by employee count so a three-person shop isn’t subsidizing a regional company. And because we’re a nonprofit, that money stays here, funding BBB services across Central Texas.

BBB Advertising Programs
Access to marketing programs available only to Accredited Businesses, including Google Search and Display advertising, Local Services Ads, SEO, website programs, and more at Accredited Business rates.
BBB Get a Quote Program
A Get a Quote button on your BBB Business Profile and in directory search results, available only to Accredited Businesses. Consumers describe the job, attach photos, and the request comes straight to you by email or text.
Dispute Resolution
When a customer has a problem, BBB mediates before it becomes a public review war. You get a structured process and a chance to fix it, instead of a one-star review and no recourse.

BBB Serving the Heart of Texas is the local, independently incorporated BBB for Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Fort Worth, and College Station. You can verify our organization at bbb.org or call our Austin office at (844) 477-1099 and speak to a person here.
It’s the seven requirements a business has to meet before it can be accredited: time in business, licensing and bonding, good standing, a satisfactory rating, a clear complaint file, honest advertising, and dues. In your application you confirm the first six and BBB verifies them during review. The seventh is activation.
No. Every application is reviewed by BBB against the standards you confirm in the form. If we can’t accredit your business, or the information you provided turns out to be inaccurate, your dues are refunded in full.
No, and any organization that promises you a rating in exchange for payment is not one you should trust. Your rating is calculated separately from your Accreditation status and reflects your complaint history and responsiveness over time. Accreditation makes you eligible to be rated and gives you the tools to protect that rating.
You’re paying dues to a nonprofit that verifies standards, mediates complaints, and removes businesses that stop meeting them. The seal is what you get to show for it. If it could be bought without meeting the standards, it wouldn’t be worth showing.
You’ll be notified and given the chance to respond and resolve it through BBB’s mediation process. Accreditation doesn’t shield you from complaints. It gives you a structured way to handle them before they turn into permanent public damage.
Yes. Accreditation is a membership, not a locked contract. Cancel any time and you won’t be billed again.
As soon as BBB approves your application. Your seal files are available to download the moment you’re approved, and your Business Profile is updated at the same time.
If your business meets the standard, the seal is yours to earn.
